Our Mission
The mission of FightAWA.org is to bring an end to the Adam Walsh Act, a law that unconstitutionally prevents two adults in a loving relationship from being together. Additionally, we wish to put an end to the practice of denying a green card to a resident spouse already married in the US, thereby keeping them “captive” and unable to visit their families in their country. This creates incredible hardship on the family! We intend to fight to bring an end to the heartache brought on by the Adam Walsh Act and protect the rights of citizens worldwide.
At FightAWA.org, we have joined together to fight the injustices brought on by the AWA. Specifically, we are focused on Title IV, section 402 which states that “a citizen of the United States who has been convicted of a specified offense against a minor” shall not be allowed to have family-based petitions approved. This means if you’ve ever committed a crime in which a child was involved and you were required to register, you are now unable to sponsor your spouse or fiancé into the US. Even if you were not convicted of that crime.

Our Beliefs
We at FightAWA.org believe the following to be true:
- Citizens of any country have a right to marry citizens of other countries, and to visit one another before that marriage.
- People have a right to sponsor their spouse into the country of their choosing, and to be together as a family.
- After being married and in the US, that the spouse should be allowed to have a green card and visit their family in their country without the danger of not being allowed to re-enter the U.S.
- Above all, love and marriage know no country, nation, boundaries, or ethnic groups. Citizens of the world have a right to marry whomever they wish, regardless of where they reside in the world, and to spend their life with that special one of their choice.
Through the Adam Walsh Act of 2005 (AWA) the United States makes it difficult, if not impossible, for two people who have fallen in love to marry one another, and to be together. The US has signed human rights declarations (The United Nations Universal Declaration on Human Rights) stating that people everywhere have these rights, and that these rights are inalienable and cannot be taken away. And yet, this is exactly what is happening: rights are being stolen away.
The provision of the AWA that we are fighting was ostensibly written to prevent sexual abuse to children; a concern to all. Many people who are affected by this legislation have never been accused of abuse of a child or convicted of a crime against a child. And yet, the US government wants to take away their right to marry and/or sponsor an adult from another country. This must stop.
If you are a US citizen suffering through this violation of your rights, we are your voice. If you are a foreign spouse or fiancé in another country who is being denied the right to join your spouse, we are your voice. If you are a couple who is already married, but have been denied a green card and therefore forced to remain in the US and unable to visit your family, we are your voice. Or, if you are just one of those wonderful people who like to fight injustices, we are your voice, too. Let us work together against the social injustice and violation of rights and liberties; let us join and work together against the unconstitutional laws that take these rights away.
The big machine of USCIS (United States Customs and Immigration Service) or the Department of Homeland Security can easily defeat a single person, or one couple at a time. Join together with us and demand accountability, responsibility and change. Join us to put an end to unconstitutional laws and human rights violations. Together we can make a difference, and together, we can make it possible.
